Over 2.7 billion people have never even heard the name of Jesus. That’s over 40% of the entire world’s population who have never experienced the unconditional love that Jesus has to offer them. These people are considered “unreached” because there is no evangelical witness to the good news among them. There is no one to tell them that they are not a lesser people, and that no caste system or social barriers can keep them from the eternal love that Jesus promises.

There are several factors to consider when defining a people group. In general, the most important are cultural characteristics and language. Missionologists have identified over 15,000 people groups around the world today. It is estimated that almost half of these have never heard the name of Christ. Most of which live in countries where mission work is opposed or closed completely.

The largest density of the people live in what is described as the 10/40 window. The 10/40 window is the region between 10 and 40 degrees latitude north of the equator. This region makes up of most of northern Africa, southern Asia, and parts of the South Pacific. The 10/40 window may only account for 1/3 of Earth’s land area, but it also is home to nearly 2/3 of its people. The 10/40 window has some of the poorest countries worldwide. The abundance of disease, poverty, and socioeconomic shortcomings, they need our help now more than ever. They have never heard or felt the transforming power of the Word of God that can alter lives. Be the person who can show them that there is a better way to live that shows compassion, love, and kindness to all of the children of God.

GIVE BACK


Support a missionary living in a country within the 10/40 window. Support them through prayer and financial contributions. Even simply writing or emailing them to let them know you appreciate them and support them can be the inspiration needed to further the gospel.

GET EDUCATED

Visit the Joshua Project website and read about the different people groups that have never heard the gospel. You may be surprised where they live and what they’re lives are like; many live in urban areas.

GET INVOLVED

Participate in a short-term mission trip to a country in the 10/40 window and love people in a way that would make Jesus proud.

Meet needs and share the message where the need is greatest. Offer both practical, and spiritual hope and lead people into the greatest love story ever. Redemption.
