Clean Water
BRING CLEAN WATER
Nearly a billion people don’t have access to something we take advantage of every day, clean drinking water. People across the globe, many times women and children, walk more than 3 hours a day to retrieve water that will make them sick. Unclean drinking water and lack of basic sanitation account for 80% of all disease and sickness and contribute to more premature death than all forms of violence–including war–combined.
Think of what actually makes up the water that these people drink. It’s a mixture of water, dirt, animal feces, algae, bacteria, insect eggs, parasites and waterborne diseases. It becomes almost a “Russian Roulette” of sorts, where the water they drink today will either kill them, or allow them to survive, for a while, before it eventually kills them later on. It’s difficult for Americans to care about the water crisis, because water is not something we care about. Its readily available everywhere, and on top of that, water is hip. Its branded, marketed, and sold to everyone in different fashions, and the people who need our help are so disconnected from us because they live “over there” or “on that side of the world”.
Of the 42,000 deaths that occur each week from this epidemic, 90% of them are children. Regardless of your political, religious, or cultural views, this is wrong. Many of our water sources are constructed of wells dug over aquifers and underground lakes. These aquifers are readily available in most developing nations, but due to the extreme poverty and lack of organization and funding, they have no way to reach them. We can help.
This is Caroline. Beautiful smile, right? She’s smiling because she’s drinking clean water for the first time. She used to walk three hours every day to fetch dirty water. But not anymore. Her village just got a well. Clean water will change everything for Caroline and her community. For every Caroline, there are millions more children hoping to smile like that. Almost a billion people on the planet don’t have clean water right now. Who knows how many people you will impact. This is where it begins.

OUR GOAL
Jesus said whoever offers even a cup of water in my name shall not lose his reward (Mark 9:41) Together we can stop the cycle of sickness and death by providing villages with clean drinking water. Our goal is to supply 3 villages with water wells each year.
